                          White Crane Midwifery                                                    Karen Wendt is a 1995 graduate of Frontier Nursing Service’s Community-based Nurse-Midwifery Education Program.  The practical experience came from an internship with the Baylor Nurse Midwives in Houston, TX.  She has worked in a CNM/MD practice in American Fork, Utah, and then in Lander, Wyoming.  She presently works one day per week in a full service Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner–owned office in Lander and has started a home birth practice separate from her employment. She can be reached at 307-330 4163, or on line at wymidwife@gmail.com.  Her practice is limited by distance to mostly in Fremont County, Wyoming.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Philosophy of White Crane Midwifery:  Women should be able to control their own birth, including the environment in which that occurs.  Women with complicated pregnancies will wisely choose a medical environment.  Those with uncomplicated pregnancies should choose the environment in which they feel safe and secure.  For some women that will be a place other than the hospital.  Midwives are present to assist the woman to a safe, uncomplicated birth.
